Dear Parents, Players, and Members,

We are delighted to announce the launch of The Old Northamptonians ‘94 Memorial Garden’ Design Competition alongside Save Our Grassroots and The BCN Wildlife Trust.

As many of you know, our club has a proud history built on the dedication, friendship, and hard work of those who came before us. Particularly the ’94 former staff and students of Northampton Grammar School, alongside the many players, volunteers, and supporters who helped shape the club into what it is today. We would now like to create a peaceful and meaningful space in their memory for current and future generations to enjoy.

We are especially calling on our younger players and members to get involved in this project and would love the support of parents and guardians in encouraging children to take part. As one club, this is an opportunity for all generations of the ONs community to come together, celebrate our history, and create something meaningful for the whole community to enjoy for years to come.

The proposed garden will be created on the existing land in the top right hand corner of the sports ground and we are inviting our players, families, and members to help shape its design.

We would love the garden to:

Honour and remember past players and founding members of the club.
Support local wildlife, insects, bees, and birds. This can include habitat boxes such as hedgehog houses or bug hotels.
Include sensory elements such as colour, texture and scent.
Provide a quiet and calming place where people can sit, reflect, and enjoy nature.
Become a lasting feature the whole community can take pride in.
Winning ideas and inspiration from the entries will help shape the final memorial garden design, and selected contributions may be incorporated into the finished space.

We hope this project will become a meaningful tribute to the people who built our club and a peaceful place that can be enjoyed by the entire community for many years to come.
